Felted Yorkshire Landscapes & Landmarks (Wet Felting & Needle Felting) Workshop – Wednesday 5 August 2026 (10am – 4pm) York

Immortalise the glorious Yorkshire countryside — or one of York’s iconic landmarks — in this full-day wet felting and needle felting workshop, led by local textile artist Jessica Jenyns. Whether you’re a Yorkshire local looking to celebrate the landscapes you love, or a visitor wanting a unique souvenir of your time here, you’ll create a handmade felted artwork while taking home lasting skills and memories.

Take a look at some of the amazing landscapes created by previous participants in our Felted Landscapes workshops.

Felt is a textile material made by compressing and matting together natural animal or plant fibres to create a rich, atmospheric background. Needle felting is then used to add detail and texture with a barbed needle. Our tutor works with carded sheep’s wool and recycled bamboo and flax fibres, and also creates her own materials from carefully cleaned second-hand textiles, making this a creative and environmentally conscious craft.

No previous experience is necessary. This workshop is suitable for complete beginners as well as those looking to expand their textile and artistic skills through a new medium.

Most materials and tools are provided but bring along a medium sized towel for matting and squeezing out your wet felt, and a photograph or image to inspire you.

Light refreshments are available throughout the day, with a break for lunch to explore the lovely cafés of York to eat out or bring back to the workshop.

Each participant also receives a 10% off after-class voucher to spend online.

Access notice: there are two flights of stairs to the workroom in our medieval building at 32 Coppergate, York YO1 9NR. We sincerely apologise if this prevents anyone from attending.
