Suitable for both beginners and improvers, in this class, you will learn the stitches needed to create your own ‘Meadow Hare’ embroidery. After the tutor has demonstrated each stitch you will have the opportunity to practice it, using her own pre-printed background as a base. Stitch by stitch we will bring it to life using a variety of stitches before finishing off with a scattering of beads and sequins.
Everything you need will be provided including threads, fabric, needles, full instructions, beads and sequins and an embroidery hoop.
Taught by York-based illustrative embroiderer, Amy Butcher. She draws inspiration from nature, particularly flowers and plants, which offer such a rich and diverse range of colours, patterns and textures. She works in an illustrative style using fabric as her ‘paint’ and stitching into this to add detail, definition and texture.
Access notice: there are two flights of stairs to our workshop at the top of our medieval building. We apologise if this prevents anyone from attending.
